Embed the Lottery Tax Calculator

A free take-home calculator for your readers: paste one snippet, no sign-up.

The calculator below works on any website: a reader enters a lottery prize, picks a state and filing status, and sees the take-home after federal and state income tax, plus how much tax is withheld when the prize is claimed and how much more is due at filing. It uses the same 2026 rates and engine as the lottery tax calculator on this site.

Copy the code

Paste this where you want the calculator to appear. It works in WordPress (Custom HTML block), Ghost, Squarespace, Webflow and plain HTML pages.

The credit line under the calculator is appreciated but optional; remove or reword it if it does not fit your page.

Start with your own numbers

Add parameters to the address to open the calculator with a prize, state or filing status already filled in:

  • ?prize=500000 — any whole-dollar amount; 2.5M and 1B also work
  • &state=IL — a two-letter state code, or NY-NYC for New York City and NY-YONKERS for Yonkers
  • &status=joint — single, joint or headOfHousehold

For example, a story about a $2 million prize won in Illinois could use https://jackpotcalculator.com/embed/lottery-tax/?prize=2000000&state=IL.

What readers see

  • Federal income tax at 2026 rates, with the 24% withholding and the extra amount due at filing shown separately
  • State income tax for all 50 states and Washington, D.C., plus New York City and Yonkers; Maryland includes an average county tax. Withholding rules are checked against official sources for 35 jurisdictions
  • No ads, no cookies and no tracking inside the calculator. It loads one page and its script and style files from jackpotcalculator.com

Rates are updated at the start of each tax year and when a state changes its law, so the embedded calculator stays current without any work on your side. Corrections are listed in the methodology.
